Xbox 360 Red Light Fix ControllerIf you have just experienced the dreaded red lights on your Xbox 360, you don’t need to panic just yet. This is one of the most common problems that have occurred with the Xbox 360.

The likelihood for the red lights is that your Xbox 360 is overheated. This has happened possibly because there many not be proper cooling devices in your console.

Here are a few steps for you to take so you can get back gaming again:

  1. Turn off your console.
  2. Unplug all the power supplies from the console.
  3. Leave it off and unplugged for around 30 minutes.
  4. The longer you leave the console unplugged, the better.
  5. Ensure your console is not on a carpet or any type of rug. This can trap the heat in the console. Instead, place it on a hardwood surface.
  6. Make sure the Xbox 360 is away from anything that may be blocking the vents. If it is next to a stand or wall, move it away from there a little.

If these steps do not work, then you have 3 options.

  1. Send it into the manufacturer. But this will cost you a lot of money, and a lot of time.
  2. The “Towel Method”. But I don’t recommend this. It may be a temporary solution, but the problem will re-occur, and you are doing long term damage to your console.
